Animals Fae Naboombu SC Rothesay July 08
If Carlsberg did rallies was a quote Id heard, and after a year
of organising, debating, arguing and finalising, was it all
worth it,
The question was can it be better than last year, well only
time will tell, a week prior to the rally we found out the caterer
from last year had done thee dirty on us by not paying for the
scout hut, a quick visit to him soon got that sorted ( names
are with held to protect the innocent) we finally managed to
get a burger van at short notice.
Our club arrived on the island on the Thursday night to be met
by a few campers already on site, introductions given and a
cold beer was welcomed like having a winning lottery ticket,
a quick glance inside the scout hut revealed a sight for sore
eyes, it was a "pig stye" all hands on deck, it was
spick and span in a couple of hours, time for more beer and
to stock the bar up for the Friday evening, "£1 a
drink any drink wether this be a can, bottle, spirit its £1
a drink, with this done it was time for bed to await for Fridays
arrivals.
Friday came as did the sunshine after all the sun shines on
the righteous, scooters started arriving every 45mins on time
with the ferries, the place was soon filling up nicely and to
our amazement it was already busier than last year, normally
the scouts would have put up the marquee for us, but they must
have been on bob a job duty as it was up to us to erect it,
the less said the better!
Friday night arrived and the sounds being supplied by the soul
kitchen were pumping out the scout hut the place soon filled
up, standing room only! Thank god people were using the marquee
and were outside catching the last rays of sun going down, which
eased the strains on the old scout hut, I'm sure I heard them
creaking with the hordes inside, the night ended all to soon
just as well the masses had drunk us dry, with only 2 cases
left at the end of the night, what could we have expected with
all drinks at a £1, and they say its us scots that are
"mean", the food got a thumbs up as the burger van
did a roaring trade! Result, the party was still going strong
until the drink took its toll on everyone and it seemed everyone
then decided it was time for bed.
Saturday saw another fantastic day again with the arrival of
more scooterists from the ferries and the blazing sun, it seemed
everyone was taking advantage of the burger van to cure the
hang overs from the night before festivities the "Scottish
way" roll on square slice and a beer followed by a can
of "irn-bru"
Club member Jim bowman had organised a ride out- custom show
which had the locals gasping in amazement at the numbers who
had decided to take part, the route saw them riding through
town and along the coast road to a quaint wee hotel to quench
their thirst, the custom show judged by red it was decided to
announce the results later on in the night, it was time to head
back to the campsite for the games, after last years success
the death slide was again popular with the boys and girls, which
the high light being a young blonde going down the wet fairy
soaked slide in her bra and thong, this went down with the drink
fueled hordes, games over it was time to head to the picturesque
art deco pavilion in the town centre for the nites do, it was
agreed by the club not to have a band this year and to have
just sounds supplied by the DJ`s from the soul kitchen, would
this back fire on us, well only those in attendance could answer
that and judging by the way the dance floor was packed all night
Who Cares! It was time for the trophies and the raffle.

With this done it was time for a very special donation towards
2 local charities from our club, with all the hard work being
done by Jim Bowman organising the raffle that would see £1000
going to Callums Cabin a local charity for a young boy who died
and whose parents were building a hospice on the island for
other young people with life threatening illnesses to enjoy
a break with the people that matter most in life.
Also £415 was donated towards Robin Sprowl playframe fund
proceeds came from the sale of piaggio vespa merchandise kindly
donated by piaggio, this done it was time to get back to the
dancin before the buses the club laid on arrived to take revellers
back to the camp site free of charge! Back at the campsite people
had decided to stay up and watch the beautiful sunrise on display
before heading of to bed.
Sunday came with the usual sound of people wanting to catch
the first ferry home while a lot of others stayed and enjoyed
the glorious sunshine that was still blazing down, a few scooterists
remained to join us for the Sunday afternoon BBQ with myself
feeding the vultures before participating in our own games "NAKED
DEATH SLIDE" being one of them, (see you tube for evidence),
in the evening we filled the scout hut and let our hair down
with free drink and karaoke after a hectic weekend it was much
appreciated to un-wind and relax.
Monday morning came and it was time to nurse our hangovers and
pick up and head for the ferry and home, we announced on the
Saturday night that this would be the last time in doing the
rally much to the disappointment to a lot of people, but we
don't want to ruin a good thing now do we! The animals SC would
like to thank all who attended and made it the success it was
