DURHAM
HEIFER RIDE OUT 13TH JULY 2008
It’s
been a poor old time of it lately for good weather but this
particular Sunday the weather was excellent for the Chester
Scooter Club summer event at The Durham Heifer.
My
daughter, DeeDee wanted to come on the back of me so the trusty
P2 had to be my ride for the day. We met up with a few members
of the Chosen Few Scooter Crew and Rich from the Northern
Aces at the usual meeting place, the ice ring in Deeside at
10:30am.
A quick ride to the Grosvenor Arms (Clubbies) in Chester,
home to the Chester Scooter Club and have a talk to some familiar
faces before we set of on the ride out for the Durham Heifer
near Broxton some 30 minutes ride away. A very nice ride given
the sunny weather, a welcome change from the last couple of
rides I’ve had.
Chester Club had put on a very good event including some trader
stalls, BBQ and the band Moses playing from the back of a
wagon trailer.
A very good turn out of scooters from North Wales, Cheshire,
Shropshire & Liverpool clubs with Best Lambretta won by
“Daytona” and Best Vespa won by “On the
Breadline”.
Because
of the relaxed atmosphere it was quite easy to use up the
whole day in Broxton, we decided to ride back home with a
few members of Wrexham Scooter club and for me to attempt
to sell a Bajaj I have to Dave from Ruithin. Now I’ve
got more room in the garage for another project, I’m
thinking a sidecar or a model D….
A
good day all round and congratulations goes to Chester Scooter
club for a very well organised event.
