Hello all could give you loads of info but dont want to
bore you ...lets keep it entertaining eh?
being an engineer all the computations, design and construction
was completed by me,it wasnt as difficult as it might seem.
Once the idea was set in place, a jig was constructed to
accommodate the wheelplan (base and alignment)and the rest
they say is......that was that!
build time about 6weeks (but that was full time) golf and
business was put on the back burner
Power unit is a 1972 suzuki gt 380 (371cc) triple cylinder
two stroke 6 speed motor tuned, ported and balanced, throwing
out a punchy 39 horsepower @ 8,000rpm
triple micuni carbs jetted with conical k&n filters
and electronic ignition all complimented by a three into
one chrome expansion chamber
bought a non running gilera runner( £100)....this
supplied both front and rear wheels and tyres, front forks
brakes....and anything else i could salvage (ha ha)
scooter frame came kindly from scooter restorations (£100
plus vat) scrounged, borrowed, collected and purchased all
remaining ancillaries from anywhere...
frame is primarily a suzuki gt 380 rear end which was lowered
and swing arm shortened and widened to accommodate the chunky
12 inch wheel.....
forks and front end were a combination of gilera /lambretta
manifestation
the scoot has a modest top speed of about 80, because it
was geared for acceleration (i can assure you its quick
off the lights) anyway if you want to go fast
get a fireblade (honda 1000)
the nitrous bottle is just a talking point (its a two stroke
oil tank)
paintwork ..all straight colours done by me all tricky stuff
by Artrage
to cap this all off ....the project was an amazing success, completed
a trouble free 1000 miles last season.. turns heads and
ears wherever it goes ...i thought motorbikes were fun ..but
the following, comrardary and enthusiasm of scooterists is
fantastic
Cheers All
